Jordanian Bar Association Allows Children of Jordanian Women to Join the Association and Enroll in Its Training Institute

The Jordanian Bar Association (JBA) recently issued a decision allowing the sons and daughters of Jordanian women the right to join the JBA and enroll in its training institute, provided they pass the admission exam required for all prospective applicants.

This decision aligns with the provisions of Article (3) of the Instructions for Implementing the Cabinet Decision Regarding Granting Facilities to Children of Jordanian Women Married to Non-Jordanians of 2014, which required facilitating their access to employment, healthcare, and education subject to two conditions which are the mother must hold Jordanian nationality and a national identification number, and the child of the Jordanian woman married to a non-Jordanian must be lawfully residing in the Kingdom. For those exempted from obtaining residency permits under applicable laws, regulations, instructions, and decisions—namely citizens of Syria, Egypt, Yemen, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—they are required to hold a valid security card and a valid work permit for workers, or proof of enrollment for students studying in schools, institutes, or universities within Jordan.
