The Reform Secretariat at The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (Jordan), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the implementing consulting firm, hosted a workshop yesterday to discuss the Gap Analysis results for Jordan’s National Traceability System for Agri-Food Products. This initiative is supported by the Jordan Growth Multi-Donor Trust Fund.

The workshop brought together 40 participants from government entities, the private sector, and civil society organizations. Key discussions centered on initial findings from two supply chain studiesโ€”vegetables and fruits (focused on tomatoes and dates) and poultry and livestock (sheep)โ€”as well as the system’s requirements, roles, data quality, and responsibilities of stakeholders.

This traceability system aims to improve food safety, enhance supply chain transparency, and expand export markets for Jordanian agricultural products. The project will soon move into Phase 3, focusing on providing recommendations on the design of more efficient traceability system.
